Workplace wellbeing has moved far beyond gym memberships and the occasional wellness talk.
Across Dublin, more organisations are looking for practical ways to help their people manage stress, reset during demanding working days and build healthier habits around how they respond to pressure.
One of those tools is breathwork.
What is breathwork?
Breathwork is the intentional use of breathing patterns to influence how we feel physically and mentally.
Your breathing and nervous system are closely connected. Stress can change the way we breathe, often making it faster, shallower or more irregular. In the other direction, deliberately slowing and regulating the breath can support relaxation and help shift the body towards a calmer state.
And it doesn't require an hour-long class.
Some of the breathing techniques I use in corporate settings can be practised at a desk, before a difficult meeting, between calls or at the end of a busy working day.
Why breathwork works well in the workplace
One of the biggest advantages of breathwork for corporate wellbeing is how accessible it is.
There’s no equipment, changing clothes or previous experience required. A session can be delivered to a team in a meeting room, office wellness space or as part of a larger corporate wellbeing day.
The aim isn't to remove every source of stress from somebody's working life. That's unrealistic.
Instead, employees can learn practical techniques they can return to when they notice themselves becoming overwhelmed, tense or mentally scattered.
A short guided session can also create something that is increasingly rare during the working day: a genuine opportunity to stop.
Breathwork for workplace stress
We spend a huge amount of our working lives moving from one thing straight into another.
Emails. Meetings. Deadlines. Traffic. Calls. Notifications.
The body doesn't necessarily get a clear signal that one stressful moment has finished before the next one begins.
Breathwork creates a deliberate interruption to that cycle.
Depending on the session, I use slower breathing, extended exhales, grounding and other down-regulation techniques to help participants settle and reconnect with their bodies.
For corporate environments, my focus is on techniques that are practical, approachable and appropriate for the setting.
Corporate breathwork in Dublin
Through Anchor Point, I provide corporate breathwork and wellbeing sessions for organisations across Dublin and Ireland.
Sessions can be designed around the needs of the organisation rather than following one fixed format.
This can include short nervous-system reset sessions during the working day, guided breathwork workshops, employee wellbeing events, leadership and executive sessions, or breathwork incorporated into a larger corporate wellness day.
I have also delivered workplace wellbeing sessions in corporate and event settings, with the focus always being on giving people something they can actually use after the session finishes.
What does a corporate breathwork session look like?
It doesn't have to involve lying on yoga mats for an hour.
For a workplace session, everyone can remain seated while I guide the group through simple breathing techniques, grounding and an understanding of what is happening in the body during periods of stress.
Longer sessions can go deeper into breath awareness, nervous-system regulation and practical tools employees can incorporate into their own routines.
The format depends on the group, the environment and what the organisation wants its people to get from the experience.
A different approach to corporate wellbeing
The best workplace wellbeing initiatives shouldn't just give employees another thing to attend.
They should give them something useful.
Breathing is something every person in the room is already doing thousands of times each day. Learning how to work with it gives people a tool they can take away with them and use without needing an app, equipment or another appointment.
For organisations looking for corporate breathwork in Dublin, workplace wellbeing sessions or something different for an upcoming employee wellness day, Anchor Point offers bespoke sessions for teams and organisations.
